Many words have been used to describe Josko Gravner - Pioneer, Maverick, Visionary. But perhaps the word that captures his philosophy and his expressions is honesty. It was a desire for this honestly that led him to abandon ultra-modern winemaking methods; instead opting for the ancient practice of fermentation in amphora (clay vessels) with long periods of skin maceration, no temperature control and extended oak barrel ageing.
Breg is a classic Gravner blend of Riesling Italico, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon and Chardonnay, fermented separately but blended and aged together. An intriguing expression of flowers, lime, peach, passion fruits, pineapples, apricots, apples and caramel. A smooth and refined, yet lively attack, with notes of fruits and spices, balanced by a lovely richness in the finish.
