The Arndorfers began experimenting with extended skin contact in 2012 with three varietals— Müller-Thurgau, Neuburger and Grüner Veltliner. “Per Se” is a radical experiment challenging the notion that orange wines cannot show varietal character.

The Gruner Veltliner “Per Se” is an orange wine with a deep expression of pear, green apple, and aromas of white flowers with a touch of tannin. 14 days on skins and aged in old barrels with 16 months on the lees, this savoury wine is elegant, racy, and refined at the same time.

About the winemakers

Martin Arndorfer and Anna Stieninger are a wine power couple. Martin comes from a long line of winemakers. Anna is the daughter of Karl Steininger, one of the most respected winemakers in Austria. Both were born with a genetic love and a nurtured appreciation for Riesling and Grüner Veltliner grapes.

Arndorfer is located in the northern reaches of the Kamptal region in Austria, where wine can grow. Just 15 kilometers south, it is considered too cold. In this distinctive microclimate, the Andorfers’ wines develop a unique regional expression.

Martin and Anna produce wine for pleasure and with pleasure. They pay close attention to the details but ultimately believe that wine is for enjoyment and not to be coveted or worshiped. It is nice to discuss wine, but it is there to be enjoyed above all else.
